General Synopsis

Phillip Galloway has a massive chip on his shoulder. His mother died from an illness when he was 8 years old. She was a dedicated Christian, but his father had no apparent regard for God at that time. Phillip grew embittered by his mother’s death and an emotionally absent father. He remembers his mother’s commitment to the Lord, but he also remembers a father who was verbally abusive and constantly let him and his family down in almost every area of their lives. Five years ago, his dad experienced spiritual rebirth. Phillip’s heart is cold to his father and God. How could a loving God allow his mother to be taken away from them? Jenny, Phillip’s sister, pleads with him to come home for one weekend during the holidays. Their older brother, Nathan, is the narrator for the church musical. Jenny tells Phillip that it would mean a lot to both of them if he could be there. Phillip reluctantly agrees. We follow Phillip on his journey home, during which he encounters people who involve him in deeper levels of discussion. It is obvious that the family’s prayers are being answered, even before he arrives at the church for the Christmas presentation.
